Hello everyone! Jenna here from Perth. I am an Enterprise Automation Specialist currently working on several projects within Workato - mostly Workflow Apps. I have worked with Power Platform for the last 5 years and I am glad to say goodbye and welcome Workato with open arms. Keen to connect and see what everyone else is working on 🙂
Hi Jenna. Is that Perth, Australia or Perth, Scotland? Workato's toolset is so much better than Power Platform right up until you want to work in the Microsoft world (Anything guarded by Azure App registrations and Entra. Especially things like Sharepoint, Viva, and Teams). The knots I've tied myself up in trying to figure out the many and varied combinations of scopes and permissions to get anything useful done via Workato. Endless rounds of circular conversations with the paranoid MS Security admin Me: I need this feature to work but it says Forbidden. Them: What scope permission do you want? Me: What do I need for that feature? Them: Well, what do you want? Me: Well, I want what is needed! Them: What do the docs say. Me: This. Them: I've given you that. Me: Nope! Still forbidden Doesn't work. Them: Well, what do you want? Me: Well, what do I need? Round and round we go until the heat death of the universe 🤣 Whereas the PowerApps and PowerAutomate tools just seem to automatically understand what is needed. I hope your background in those tools makes your life easier.
Perth, AUS 🇦🇺! Oh you're telling me 😄 Workato is miles ahead of PP and I hope it will catch up on the MS ecosystem soon. After speaking to a few people, Aus in general seems to be firmly in the claws of MS. More than other countries it seems... I have honestly not done much in the MS ecosystem as yet, preferring to use data tables and Workato native features. I have done a few Entra bits, but it seemed (relatively) painless... I can't imagine what it would be like for the deeper integrations. I do believe MS makes it kind of hard for this kind of integration because they have their own tools in PP to work within their systems. But hopefully not for long!
Hi Jenna! Welcome!! So excited to hear you’re in AUS! If you ever want to plan a Workato meetup in Perth or virtual get together for all of AUS, let’s chat !
