Hi everyone, We're evaluating Workato alongside our ERP and are curious how others are using the Microsoft 365 integrations. What business problems were you trying to solve, and which Microsoft 365 integration (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Planner, Power BI, Copilot, etc.) ended up providing the most value? If you're using Workato with an ERP or operational system, I'd especially be interested in understanding how Microsoft 365 fits into those workflows. I'm more interested in the business outcomes and lessons learned than the technical setup. Thanks!
This is exactly the kind of question to get great answers from the Community on edward.williams - thank you for asking it. It also may take some time to get great answers since the community has just launched. BreAnna B. - any chance you're a 365 integration user? Figured it was worth a shot. richy.mulcahy - anyone in your circles running these kinds of integrations?
we do not use the full Microsoft stack but we have many workflows to Microsoft via Graph for Intune management. It is not the easiest as Microsoft will have multiple IDs for the same resource. Usually an Azure ID then the sub tool (Intune for us) has its own ID. Which means a lot of the time there are several calls to get all the necessary information. Plus creating the Enterprise app inside Azure to expose all the necessary APIs to actually properly talk to Microsoft isn’t the easiest while keeping least privileged access in mind. There are 100s of API options plus most everything is duplicated in App Only or Delegated. Plus documentation is overly complicated because Microsoft.
I recently had a customer who due to a merger had to move from Netsuite to Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations. It took planning by the customer to first identify how the processes will work in Dynamics and then the endpoints to be used. We looked at the connector to find gaps then determine whether connector changes or using the graph API directly makes the most sense. In General with Microsoft products navigating the Graph API is a bit trickier than with many other systems.
yeah Graph API is not easy but can do everything if you spend enough time tinkering with it (or are willing to expose all APIs via the Enterprise App 🙂)
