How We Automated Procurement to Dispatch Across Multiple Locations Using Workato π One supply chain. Multiple locations. Disconnected systems. One integration orchestration layer β Workato! In a distributed manufacturing and retail environment, procurement, order management, manufacturing, and logistics often operate across different applications and geographical locations. The challenge wasn't just connecting applications. It was ensuring that every business event triggered the right action in the right system, at the right location, without manual intervention. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of our hybrid integration approach using Workato. πΉ Step 1: Connect the Enterprise Landscape We established hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-premise systems using Workato connectors, APIs, and the On-Prem Agent where required. Integration landscape: * ERP β Procurement and inventory * OMS β Order management and fulfillment * Manufacturing systems β Production scheduling and status * Logistics β Dispatch and shipment tracking Goal: Establish reliable, bidirectional communication without replacing existing applications. πΉ Step 2: Automate Procurement Events Configured event-driven Workato recipes to initiate procurement workflows. * Capture purchase order creation and updates from ERP. * Validate supplier, SKU, quantity, and delivery location. * Route procurement details to the appropriate systems. * Synchronize supplier acknowledgments and procurement status. Outcome: Reduced manual handoffs and improved procurement visibility. πΉ Step 3: Orchestrate Order Management Once the required procurement or inventory conditions were satisfied, Workato orchestrated the downstream order workflow. * Validate orders against inventory and fulfillment rules. * Synchronize order details with OMS. * Identify the appropriate fulfillment or manufacturing location. * Update order statuses across connected applications. Outcome: A consistent order lifecycle across systems and locations. πΉ Step 4: Trigger Manufacturing Notifications This was a critical part of the integration. Workato enabled automated communication between order management and manufacturing teams. * Detect manufacturing-ready orders. * Trigger production notifications for the assigned facility. * Share order quantities, SKUs, priority, and required dates. * Capture production acknowledgments and milestone updates. * Synchronize manufacturing status back to OMS and ERP. Outcome: Better coordination between business operations and manufacturing facilities. πΉ Step 5: Automate Dispatch Readiness Once manufacturing completion was confirmed: * Validate production completion and fulfillment conditions. * Update order readiness in OMS. * Trigger logistics and dispatch workflows. * Synchronize shipment references and dispatch confirmations. * Notify relevant stakeholders of status changes. Outcome: Faster coordination between manufacturing completion and dispatch. πΉ Step 6: Build Exception Handling and Recovery Automation without resilience only shifts operational problems from one system to another. We focused on: * Centralized error handling and notifications. * Retry mechanisms for transient failures. * Duplicate-event prevention and idempotency. * Correlation IDs for end-to-end transaction tracing. * Exception escalation when manual intervention was required. Outcome: More reliable processing with improved operational control. πΉ Step 7: Establish End-to-End Monitoring Used Workato job monitoring and integration-level tracking to improve operational visibility. Tracked key stages including: β Purchase order processing β Order synchronization β Manufacturing acknowledgment β Production completion β Dispatch confirmation β Integration failures and recovery Outcome: Better visibility into the entire procurement-to-dispatch lifecycle. ππ π October is Workato Community Month! π€π Hey Workato Rockstars! ππ We all started somewhere in our Workato journey. Some of us began as Individual Contributors π¨βπ»π©βπ», building recipes, solving integration challenges, and automating workflows. But somewhere along the way, we started sharing our knowledge, helping others, and becoming Community Contributors ππ‘. β¨ Now, it's time to share that journey! π¬ π₯ Introducing the Workato Community Video Challenge! π₯ Here's how we can make it happen π π₯ Step 1: Create a short video (1β2 minutes) sharing your Workato journey. π‘ Step 2: Tell us: π How did your Workato journey begin? π§βπ» How did you grow from an Individual Contributor to a Community Contributor? π€π» What inspired you to start sharing your knowledge and helping others? π What has being part of the Workato community meant to you? π’ Step 3: Share your video here in the Slack channel and inspire others with your story! π― The Twist β Challenge Someone! π₯ After sharing your video, nominate another Workato community member by tagging them and challenging them to share their journey next! π Let's create a chain reaction of stories, inspiration, learning, and community spirit. ππ Remember, you don't need to be an expert or a famous community contributor to participate. Every journey matters, and your story might be exactly what inspires someone else to take their first step! π±β¨ π Let's celebrate the people behind the recipes, the connections behind the integrations, and the community behind Workato! π₯ Who's ready to take the first challenge? Drop your video, tag your nominee, and let's get this movement started! π¬π #WorkatoCommunity #CommunityMonth #WorkatoRockstars #ShareYourJourney #LearnTogether #CommunityChallenge
Aaron W. Niyaz A. π‘ Idea: Workato Theme of the Month Hey everyone! π I have an idea that could help us make our Workato community even more engaging and knowledge-driven. What if we dedicate each month to one specific Workato-related theme? π For example: * π€ Community Month β Share experiences, success stories, and community contributions. * π² Recipe Month β Explore recipe design, best practices, and reusable patterns. * π Connector Month β Discuss custom connectors, SDK development, and connector use cases. * π‘οΈ Security Month β Explore authentication, authorization, credential management, and security best practices. * β‘ Performance Month β Share tips on task optimization, scalability, and efficient automation. * π€ Agentic AI Month β Explore Workato Agentic, Genie, and AI-powered automation. * ποΈ Architecture Month β Discuss integration patterns, error handling, orchestration, and solution design. * π Analytics & Observability Month β Explore monitoring, job reporting, dashboards, and troubleshooting. Throughout each month, we could encourage members to share practical use cases, tips and tricks, challenges, polls, mini quizzes, and lessons learned around the selected theme. The goal is to learn together, share real-world experiences, and strengthen the Workato community.

Hi everyone, I was completing a course on Workato Academy when I encountered an issue with my course progress. While I was completing the course, the status appeared to update correctly. However, after refreshing the page, I noticed that my progress had reverted to its previous state. Initially, I thought this might be a browser-related glitch, so I cleared my browser cache and tried again to check my course progress and certificate status. Since then, I have been unable to log back into Workato Academy normally. Here is the login flow I am experiencing:
I navigate to academy.workato.com and click Login.
I am prompted to enter my email address. After entering it and clicking Login, I receive an email containing a login URL.
When I open that URL, it redirects me to app.workato.com instead of Workato Academy.
If I manually change app to academy in the URL, I am redirected to the sign-in page again.
Alternatively, if I select Login with Google and use my associated Gmail account, I am redirected to app.trial.workato.com.
I have already been working in our company's Workato workspace and have completed a few projects previously. I was also able to access Workato Academy and complete courses before this issue occurred. Additionally, I encountered the same login redirection behaviour today while helping another employee at my company access Workato Academy. The same sequence of redirects occurred in their case as well. My questions are:
Is the course progress rollback potentially related to the login issue, or could these be two separate problems?
Why is Workato Academy redirecting me to the main Workato application or the trial environment, despite my existing access to our company's workspace and Workato Academy?
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or knows how to resolve it?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
